Retired Presbyterian minister Homer Nye acts as Peter Dougherty, to raise funds for restoration and operation of the Dougherty Old Mission House as a museum and community center.
The Old Mission Church replica was the church and school of the Dougherty Mission to Old Mission Peninsula, Traverse City, Michigan, pursuant to the Treaty of 1836. Exhibits in the museum illustrate the lives of the Native Americans from the 1100's and the early European Settlers, beginning in 1838. Exhibits are managed by the Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society.
